Unit 505: Servicing Ventilation Equipment

Aim: To provide a comprehensive introduction to the use, maintenance, testing and servicing procedures relating to ventilator equipment.

Objectives:
Throughout this unit, participants will:

1. Be given a thorough introduction to the following principles: haematology, colorimeters and spectrophotometers, blood and gas analysis, ion selective electrodes, pH measurement, flame photometry, chloride determination, and centrifuges.
2. Learn about the Coulter principle.
3. Learn about laboratory refrigeration, and how to successfully operate minor laboratory equipment
4. Gain a proficiency in the relevant testing, servicing and maintenance procedures relating to ventilator equipment.
5. Learn the key health and safety procedures, documentation and legislation for these devices.
