Unit 501: Servicing Cardiovascular Equipment

Aim: To provide participants with a better confidence and understanding of medical equipment functions, maintenance, and application.

Objectives:
Throughout this unit, participants will:

1. Understand the principles and operation of medical equipment including ECGs, pacemakers, defibrillators, pulse oximeters, and blood pressure devices.
2. Further this understanding by learning to test, service and practise basic fault-findng techniques with this equipment.
3. Maximise their awareness of patient safety.
4. Learn the key health and safety procedures, documentation and legislation for these devices.
5. Be fully prepared to undertake units 2-6.
