Unit 200: Biomedical Equipment Electrical Safety Testing 

Aim: To provide participants with a practical insight into the relationship between the latest technical standards, including IEC 62353 and  and the electrical safety testing of patient connected electronic medical devices.

Objectives:
Throughout this unit, participants will:

1. Understand the principles of patient safety with regards to medical devices
2. Further this understanding by learning to assimilate legislation and standards relating to electrical safety testing in the workplace environment

3. Understand electrical safety testing procedures for medical devices and be able to explain their protocols.
4. Perform inspection and testing of medical devices in accordance with the latest IEC 62353 standard.
